My Travel Bucket List

Recently I've caught a bit of a travelling bug. I've got this urge to go and see different places, experience new cultures and meet new people. Now, I know what you're thinking - 'Meg, you're scared of travelling, how on earth are you actually going to get to these places?'. Well, since I've been going to Paris on and off for the past year, I've found myself feeling more confident when it comes to travelling without my parents and I think I'm ready to venture further afield.

I'm a girl who doesn't like to be pushed out of her comfort zone which is why I get myself stuck in a rut - whether that be with Uni, blogging, fashion or travelling. I see my friends visiting so many different places, posting photos on their social media of them experiencing new things, going on adventures, making memories and I'm sat here visiting the same place over and over again. I can't help but feel like I'm missing out. I know that I can't keep visiting Paris for the rest of my life - as beautiful as the city is - which is why I've decided that I want my twenties to be the year that I see the world. I want to travel to my dream destinations, meet new people, eat new foods and make memories that I'll treasure for the rest of my life.

With that in mind, I've composed a list of the places that I want to travel too in the next ten years. I've called it my Travel Bucket List and I'm going to share it with you all, along with some of the things that I want to do when I'm there.

♡ Amsterdam ♡

Amsterdam looks so beautiful in every season but particularly in Autumn - I think I'd love to visit when the leaves are falling from the trees and there's a cool autumnal breeze in the air. I'd love to go and see the Anne Frank Museum, the Fault in Our Stars Bench and go on a canal cruise.

♡ Rome ♡

It's one of the most beautiful, romantic cities in the world. I'd love to visit the Colleseum, the Vatican and the Trevi Fountain. However, I think the top of my bucket list would be to eat some Italian food in Italy because it's my favourite.

♡ Venice ♡

I've been to Venice once before when I was 12 but I didn't appreciate it enough, plus the weather wasn't the greatest and we only spent the day there. I'd love to have another cocktail in Harry's Bar, go on a Gondola ride and have a coffee or a cocktail in St Marks Square.

♡ Barcelona ♡

I don't know if it's the beautiful architecture or the Ed Sheeran song that makes me want to visit but I've heard so many wonderful things about this city. I'd love to see the Sagrada Familia, spend a day on the beach and visit the famous Las Ramblas.

♡ New York ♡

'If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere, it's up to you, New York, New York...'
It's been a dream of mine to visit this city for such a long time, more so when I was introduced to swing music and the talent that is Frank Sinatra. New York, New York is my favourite song and I've already planned my lyrical Instagram captions for all of my photos. I'd love to see a show on Broadway, visit the Disney Store, Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. I also think that New York at Christmas would be beyond magical.

♡ Florida ♡

In particular, Walt Disney World. I think this will take me a while to save up for, but I am determined to make it to the most magical place on earth. It has been my dream to visit since I was a little girl and if I told you everything on my agenda, I think we'd be here all day. I'd love to visit at Halloween and attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - meeting the Seven Dwarves would be a dream come true.

♡ California ♡

California looks so chill and happy - a place surrounded by positive vibes is a place I want to be. Again, I'd love to visit Disneyland as it'd mean a lot to me to walk down the streets that Walt walked down and see his imagination in action. I'd also love to spend the day on Santa Monica beach/pier.

♡ Australia ♡

I know it's a big area to cover but I want to do it all. Similar to Cali, it has such a chilled out vibe about it - the sea is so blue, the beaches are beautiful and the surf looks out of this world. It's like Cornwall but six thousand times better. I'd love to see the Sydney Opera House and see a Koala Bear - I bloody love Koala Bears. Also, if possible I'd like to see a panda...do they have pandas in Oz?

♡ Santorini ♡

I see this beautiful place plastered all over my Instagram every summer and it looks too picturesque and too beautiful to be true. We all know that I love a good sunset from time to time and Santorini offers some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. It's only a small place but it's the perfect relaxing holiday and when I have a well-paid job, I'll be straight there.

♡ Mykonos ♡

I'd say that Mykonos and Santorini are the same kind of place - clear blue sea, gorgeous sunshine, whitewashed walls and bright pink flowers in hanging baskets. If it's as stunning as it looks on Zoella's Instagram then I'm sold.

That's my list of the top 10 places on my travel bucket list. I'm determined not to stop travelling as I want to keep this positive mentality around airports and visiting other countries. I'm already saving up for a visit to Walt Disney World. Maybe I'll never get to see all of these beautiful places but I'm determined to at least try.

CAITLIN'S QUESTIONS

1. What is your favourite thing about Autumn/Fall?

My favourite thing is being able to wear a berry lip, a mustard coloured jumper, a chunky scarf and take the dog for a walk when the leaves are falling from the trees and crunching beneath my feet.

2. What inspired you to start blogging?

I started blogging because I was studying English at college and didn't get an opportunity to write about the things I had a passion for. I was also going through a bad bit of anxiety at the time and saw my blog as an outlet - it allowed me to meet so many new people who helped me to get my confidence back!

3. What is your biggest pet peeve?

I honestly can't cope when people eat loudly or with their mouth open - Do I really want to see your food being chewed around in your mouth? No thanks.

4. What is the last book you read and what was it about?

The last book I read was Girl Online: Going Solo by Zoe Sugg. It's the third book in the Girl Online series and it's about Penny's life without Noah. I wrote a spoiler-free review on it here.

5. Is there a food you could not live without?

I have two foods but they come hand in hand and that is pasta and garlic bread - you can't have one without the other.

6. What gives you your inspiration for blog posts?

I really struggle to find inspiration for my blog posts, so if anyone has any tips then please leave them in the comments. That being said, I find that reading other blogs, going for walks and taking photos helps. I'd also say that writing about things you like makes blogging less of a chore and your posts more enjoyable to read.

7. What is one beauty product you cannot live without?
Either the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, the Tanya Burr Illuminator or my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in the colour Glastonberry.

8. Where is your favourite place to visit in the world?

I think it's obvious that my answer is going to be something to do with Disneyland but excluding that, Cornwall holds a special place in my heart and when I'm there it feels like home. Being by the sea, the coastal walks and listening to the seagulls - what more could you want?

9. Which one of your personality traits do you wish others had also?

This is such a funny question because Sarah and I were discussing this in work today. We said that we wish people would make as much of an effort as we do whether that be with birthdays, friendships, presents - people are just so lazy with everything nowadays.

A Letter To 10 Year Old Me

Dear 10-Year-Old Me,
You're sat at the table in the restaurant of your favourite hotel in Blackpool. You're wearing your new navy blue skirt with a tiara sparkling on your head, giving a big cheesy grin to the camera as you tilt your head to the side. You have the most beautiful smile, and you should wear it more often. It's one of the only things about you that won't change. I can see the pride in Mum's eyes as she smiles back at you, and her pride in you will only continue to grow because you're going to achieve amazing things little one.

You are such a clever little girl with so much potential. Sure, you might be the tallest girl in school with thin legs and knees that look like wool on cotton but you need to be true to yourself. It'll serve you well. Enjoy being as carefree as you are now because it's all stress from here but you'll get through it. There'll be challenges up ahead but you're stronger than you seem, and there'll be more good moments than bad, I promise.

You'll leave all of your friends behind to go to secondary school, I know you're not thinking about that now but you've got it all to come. Trust in fate. It will be tough on you, and people will try to dull your sparkle but keep your head down, keep dreaming and it'll soon pass. They're just jealous of how effortlessly intelligent you are. But you need to tell someone when they start drawing over your work and throwing your things out of the window, you don't need to deal with that. Never listen to the names they call you or the things they say about you, don't waste your tears on them. It will knock your confidence, but you'll soon get back up.

You'll work hard and pass all of your exams with flying colours, although you'll stress yourself out beforehand and you'll wonder if you have any more tears left to cry. When it's all over, you'll celebrate in style and turn out to be a real party person. I know you don't want to get up and dance now because you think everyone is looking at you, but soon they won't be able to get you off that dance floor.

You'll also meet your first crush. Yep, I know boys seem gross now but it'll all change. He'll be in your form and you'll spend your days thinking about him, but nothing will ever come from it. Sorry, kiddo. You'll always have a soft spot for him though, and when you see him at a party a few years down the line, all the feelings will come flooding back and you'll still get butterflies. It's never going to go well with males, and you'll soon realise that they're no good. You'll get your heart broken but you just keep on wishing and he'll come along eventually. Snow White got her Prince and you will too, one day.

In no time at all, you'll be 13. An unlucky number for some, but it'll be the start of something new for you. Just make sure you treat your Mum with a bit more respect, she's only trying to help you after all. Also, please don't let Dad take you to the hairdressers and let them put a bowl on your head. 'Coconut Head' is not a cool nickname to have. It's the age you'll realise that girls are cruel. They'll drag you down and make fun of you but you just keep spreading kindness. It's a good thing to be remembered for. However, they're not all that bad. You know Liv who lives on the same road as Mambly and Grandad? The girl you play out with all the time? Well, you're still friends 10 years down the line. You're currently the best of friends in your twenties and causing more havoc than ever. She's a good egg and you're really lucky to have her around; in the next ten years, you won't be able to get rid of her.

When you're 15 you'll meet one of the most inspirational women. She'll come in the form of your drama teacher and she'll send your confidence shooting sky high. How lucky are you to have someone so amazing to help you to achieve your dreams? You've always been such a drama queen, so it's no wonder you'll take lead roles in the school productions and you'll be absolutely amazing. Can you see how proud everyone is going to be? You have a strong talent there kiddo and you need to follow that passion even when people doubt you. Prove them wrong. Show them what you can do. You're a shining star, I just wish you could see how special you are.

As I write this to you, you're currently studying writing at University. You've moved away from home and made a whole bunch of new friends, although it hasn't been easy and you've had some setbacks along the way. You love Disney now more than you ever could, and you've finally managed to convince Mum and Dad for that little companion you always wanted. At this moment I know you want to be a beautician/hairdresser and although this isn't the career path you decide to take, you'll manage to work for Walt Disney Company and you're in a job now that you love more than anything, with people who are like your second family. I look at that little girl smiling and I'm so proud of the young woman you've become. The bullies will make you feel like you are not worthy of happiness but you will tower above them. Remember that beauty is only skin deep, and that you are so beautiful even when you don't feel like you are. Remember that it's okay to have bad days and you are entitled to them. Remember that you are worth more than any male who thinks he can take advantage of you. Believe that you can and you will.
Keep wishing on those stars and don't lose your beautiful imagination. Keep dreaming, keep believing and remember that the happiest girls are the prettiest.

Nineteen things I learned being 19

If you've been reading my blog for a while then I'm sure you'll be used to seeing these yearly blog posts. If you're new, welcome to the yearly tradition on my blog where I tell you all about the things I've learned in the past year of my life. I love going back and reading the previous years post because it helps me to see how much I've changed and gives me a positive outlook on the year ahead. In last year's post, I said that I couldn't quite believe that I was turning 20 the following year, and now the day has finally arrived. June 9th isn't only general election day, but it's the day I say goodbye to my teenage years. I could actually cry just writing that.

My final teenage year has been a tough one, and it makes me sad to say that it's been a year that I'd much rather forget. I've been bogged down with mental health issues, stress and it's been one of the lowest points in my life so far. However, I look back at the unhappy girl I was a year ago today, and I look at the happy soul who is writing this blog post and I'm so proud of how far I've come as a person. My setbacks have only made me stronger and they've come with their positives too! I managed to get a job which I love (and which I'm still in a year later), I've made so many new friends and I somehow managed to make it into the third year of University (I don't know how that happened either.)

So without further ado. Here are the nineteen things I learned in my final year of being a teenager.

1. Being in a job you love is so important

When I left my job at Disney Store, I was unemployed for six months. Not having a job was really getting me down; five months away from University with nothing to pre-occupy my mind was something that had a big impact on my mental health. However, one sunny day in June I landed a job working on a hair and beauty stall, and since then I've never looked back. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with which has made me realise just how important it is to be in a job that makes you happy. I wake up in the morning and look forward to going to work, not many people can say that.

2. I really like gin.
I'm aware that the photo above is of me with a pint of cider, however, gin is where my heart is at. I've figured it's the perfect drink to make you sound sophisticated and older. I suppose that's how I need to sound now that I'm *gulp* in my twenties.

3. Dentists aren't all that bad.

My final teenage year saw me conquer my fear of dentists and have two fillings. I'm so proud of myself I think I deserve recognition from the Queen or something.

4. Never allow me to make my own drinks

I will never know how much vodka is too much vodka...until the morning after.

5. It's possible to get all of your Uni work done a week before Deadline.

And come out with a high 2.1 at the end of it all.
But be prepared for a lot of tears and a week without sleep.

6. Toxic people walk out so that beautiful people can walk in.
I met these two lovely ladies in my last year of being a teen, both of whom I met through my new job, and I can honestly say that they're wonderful. I was so down last year because I'd lost so many friends and I felt so alone. But now I'm thankful for all of the wonderful people I have in my life. I don't think I'd be here without them.

7. It's okay to have your own opinions.
As my confidence has grown, so have my opinions. Whenever you voice an opinion, there's always going to be people who will disagree with you but it's so important to remember that your opinion is so valid even if someone else tells you that it is wrong. Never let anyone make you feel bad because you feel a certain way, we're all human after all.

9. Treat Yo'self
I've realised that it's so important to have a goal to work towards and to treat yourself once in a while. If you've been working hard all week and you go into Topshop and see a dress you really like, get it for yourself! You've earned it!

10. It'll turn out alright in the end, you'll see
And it always does. I look at the girl I was a year ago today, so scared and lonely and unhappy. I don't even recognise her. I'm so glad that I told someone about the way I was feeling and made an effort to get help. I've pushed myself to do so many things that are out of my comfort zone and although I'm not fully okay, which I don't think I ever will be, I'm so happy in my own skin. I'm proud of myself.

11. Talk about the way you're feeling
And never feel like you're annoying someone by confiding in them. I can guarantee that they'll want to help you. I'm really lucky to have such an understanding family and close group of friends who are always there for me when I need them and won't judge me when I have a meltdown.

12. Karma will come back around
And it's the most satisfying feeling when you see it serving justice.

13. I LOVE GARLIC BREAD
It's pretty self-explanatory, but if I could live off that stuff for the rest of my life then I would.

14. Going on holiday with people you don't know isn't all that bad
I think that going to Disneyland Paris and making so many wonderful friends has definitely been the highlight of my final teenage year. I couldn't have asked for better friends to be starting my twenties with, I'm so lucky that they came into my life. As I said before, toxic people leave your life so those wonderful individuals can take their place. In my case, they came with a little bit of pixie dust.

15. Never be ashamed of loving what you love.
I'm a 20-year-old girl with a slight Disney obsession, but I'm in no way ashamed. I'm so proud of it because it's part of who I am and if people can't accept that then they're not worth the time.

16. A long distance friendship can work if you try
Liv moved to London this year which meant that we were apart for months at a time. It could have taken its toll on our friendship but I can honestly say that it's brought us closer than ever. That's the sign of a friendship that's going to last a lifetime.

17. I have some seriously amazing friends
I know I rant on about how amazing they are, but they inspire me and overwhelm me with their kindness every single day. I can't begin to tell you how blessed I am to have them in my life.

18. Family's stick together no matter what
A lot has happened this year in my personal life, and although I talk about everything on here, there are some parts of my life that I like to keep quiet. However, I've realised just how strong my family are. We stick together, it's all for one and one for all. You hurt one, and you hurt us all. I love my Ohana.

19. Being a teenager was pretty awesome.
Okay, so I think I've got through my teenage years okay. I mean I've passed all of my exams, never got a detention, never got kicked out of college, got a job, got into Uni and I've learned not to mix four cocktails and tequila. HOWEVER, I think that it's true what they say, as much as you hate them, your teenage years are the best years of your life. I just hope my twenties will be able to live up to them!

Here's to my last day of being a teenager!

Disney 25th Trip Day 4: Disneyland Hotel, Inventions and Goodbyes

It's the final trip report of the April series and that makes me really sad. However, I already know that this is going to be one of my favourite posts because it contains lots of cute character photos and yummy food, so if that's your kinda thing, then I'd stick around.

Our alarms went off at 6 am so that we could get into the park in time for extra magic hours, however, this wasn't the case and we all went back to sleep. We woke up a few hours later feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. We said goodbye to our lovely hotel room, squeezed onto the shuttle with our cases and made it into the park for 10 am ready to make our last hours of this trip memorable. By the time we got through the concierge queue and left our luggage, it wasn't worth Cara and I going into the park as we had a lunch at Inventions booked for the afternoon. So, whilst Michelle and Emma went to try and get on Big Thunder Mountain, Cara and I explored the Disneyland Hotel.

If you watch my YouTube channel, you'll know that I made a bucket list video of everything I wanted to do on this trip. In this video, I mentioned that I would love to go into the Disneyland Hotel because I've never had the chance to explore it properly before. I can officially say that it is the most beautiful hotel I have ever stepped foot in. The moment we walked through the door, the smell of baby powder hit me and the whole hotel looked like it'd been sprinkled with pixie dust. Glittering chandeliers hung from the ceiling as I looked around in complete awe. Even just walking down the grand staircase in the lobby made me feel like a Disney Princess.

Cara and I then ventured into the Disneyland Hotel shop whilst we waited for Seany and Mike to come off Tower of Terror, ready to queue for Inventions. The shop display windows are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen, I mean the displays around the park are pretty impressive but this was something else. If you ever need to find something rare in Disneyland Paris then I recommend to go and have a look in the Disneyland Hotel shop. It stocks a lot of rare merchandise including various pins and clothing items. I spent most of my money in this shop and I think it may be my new favourite.

When Seany and Mike arrived, we met them in the lobby and then headed over to the restaurant. I'd never been to Inventions before so I was super excited. As we sat in the bar next to a glittering bird cage, we listened to a man playing a medley of our favourite Disney songs on the piano. However, this didn't last long as a child ran over, sat next to him and decided to play her own tune which included lots of very low notes. It was like the worst remix of 'Colours of the Wind' I'd ever heard. We didn't have to listen to it for very long as within five minutes, it was time for us to go in.

As we walked into the restaurant I could smell all the delicious food that had been placed out for us. If I could say one thing about the buffet, it had every type of food you could ever want. I think it's one of the only restaurants in the Disneyland park that caters for everyone, plus it helps that the characters are wonderful and the surroundings are beautiful. The restaurant has various, spacious rooms. We were lead to the room straight in front of us and given a table with a stunning view of the castle. Another thing I loved about Inventions is that, in comparison to Plaza Gardens, there was so much room for characters to interact with you. I cannot wait to tell you about all of my wonderful interactions so I hope you're ready for emotional rants and a lot of cute candids. I'd highly recommend Inventions to everyone, so if you're thinking of trying it out then please do.

Almost instantly Pluto came bounding over to the table. If you know me well, you'll know that Pluto and the Chipmunks are my two favourite Mickey and Friends characters, so when I saw him, I ran straight up to him and gave him the biggest hug. But a hug wasn't good enough for Pluto as we started to jump around in a circle as he swayed me from side to side giving me the tightest cuddle. The characters in Inventions give the best hugs, and that was the first of many tight hugs I got that day. Pluto was so playful and lovely, he signed my autograph book, I gave him a kiss on the nose and then we had one last cuddle before he had to go. As you can tell from the smile on my face, I couldn't have been happier.

Then came the rarest character I'd met all week. I've always wanted to meet Genie so when he came into the room, I was sure to curtsey. He accepted my gesture with a big hug, signed my autograph book and then we had some very cute photos taken. I'd just like to take this moment to thank Seany (@seanyblive) for his amazing photography. He got some of the cutest photos of our character interactions, so I think you should all give him a follow.

I love the fact that most of the main Mickey & Friends characters were in Inventions, and after I'd been and topped up my plate with some of the yummy food (including the chicken nuggets which are literally to die for) Goofy came over to say hello. I told him that this was my first proper time meeting him, because the last time he was there I was too pre-occupied loving Pluto. He made the biggest fuss and gave me a cuddle of which I returned with a kiss on his nose. Again, we took some photos and then I went to sit back down. He then picked up three of the sweets on our table handing one to Cara and one to Seany. But then he had a big decision to make, who would he choose between me and Mike? He toyed with the decision for a while, shuffling over to both me and Mike, before spotting Cara's Donald who was sat on the table and decided that he should have the last sweet. It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen, and I've put all the footage on my vlog.

The next to come over to the table was Gepetto and he was the sweetest. I love meeting him because I think he's such an underrated character and he reminds me of my Grandad. I've met Gepetto a lot, but I think that this was the best interaction I have ever had with him. I showed him my Eeyore badge and he admired the bow in my hair before having a little dance with me and signing my autograph book. We had some photos taken, had a big cuddle and then he skipped away to find Pinocchio.

One character I couldn't wait to meet was Minnie. It would be my first time meeting her in her new look and she was as adorable as ever. I wish I made more of an effort to go and meet her on my trips, but the queue is always so big and there's always someone else I could be meeting with a shorter queue. I think she could tell that I was excited because as soon as she saw me, she came and gave me the biggest hug. I told her how beautiful she looked and we twirled around together. She kept pointing at my ears (which are from EarsEverAfter), we twirled around some more, had some photos and then she left to go and find Mickey.

Before he came into the room, he gave Minnie a big hug and then came straight to our table. I always think that a trip to Disney isn't complete without meeting the Main Mouse and I don't know about you but I always feel quite emotional. I curtseyed when he came in and he gave me a big hug before allowing me to twirl round. It was one of the best interactions I've ever had with him and my photos with him are some of my favourite photos ever. I never thought I'd have such cute photos with the main mouse. I gave him a kiss on the nose (don't tell Minnie) and then he skipped away to the next family.

And now to tell you about my two favourite meets of the day. I'm getting emotional just thinking about them because they were so special to me, and I've never felt so loved. Tigger bounded into the room, saw my Eeyore badge and without another thought grabbed hold of me and squeezed me so tight. It's the tightest hug I've ever had from any character, ever. It almost made me cry because it was a hug full of meaning and love and it's what being in Disney is all about. The happiness I felt is something that I can't put into words. I remember Seany saying to Tigger 'are you gonna let her go now?' and he just shook his head and hugged me tighter. I'm not kidding when I say that he hugged me for a good five minutes without letting go. Then we bounced around for a while, I showed him my Eeyore bow and we had another big cuddle before the donkey himself took over (you've probably seen him lurking in the photos of Tigger and I).

I really don't know how to tell you about how magical meeting Eeyore was because there are no words. Tigger pointed me out to him and he got hold of me straight away and gave me another very tight hug. The Winnie the Pooh squad were on point with their hugs in Inventions. I just kept telling him how much I love him and he acted all shy so I decided to show him the bow I had in my hair. He then showed me the one on his tail and we had yet another hug. I blew him a lot of kisses before giving him a big kiss on his nose and then he admired my bow again. I've never had a character make such a fuss of meeting me since I met Marie in my Marie ears. It was pure Disney magic. Cara and I then had a very cute photo take with him and when he left I was crying, Cara was crying and some of the Cast Members stood behind us were crying. It was an overall emotional interaction and there's some footage of it over on my vlog.

When we'd finished at Inventions we headed back down the corridor and into the shop, all with smiles on our faces after what can only be described as the most magical character dining experience we have ever had. In the shop, I treated myself to some pins and some biscuits (for my parents) and then we walked back down to the lobby to meet our friends. Laura came running in to tell us all about her meeting with Snow White and Sammy told us about meeting Jack Sparrow. We just kept talking to each other because the more we spoke, the more we didn't have to leave. However, as the seconds ticked by, we knew that it was time to go and catch our Eurostar. We headed back over to concierge, collected our luggage and with tears in our eyes, we said goodbye to our friends and to our happy place. The photo you can see above is half the gang just before we collected our cases.

Within the hour, we found ourselves back on the Eurostar and heading back to London. We couldn't stop talking about all of our magical adventures and when we had to say goodbye to Cara at St Pancras, we couldn't stop crying. I'd made such an emotional bond with these girls over the week that we were in Disney and I can truly say that they're going to be my friends for life. I love them so much.

Being able to tell you about everything that we did and to be able to share all of my photos with you has made me realise just what a magical trip I had. I'd like to say thank you to everyone that I met on this trip including all the old friends, the new friends and the cast members. You made my trip so worthwhile and the best memories have been created because of you. I'm so thankful to be able to experience the magic as often as I do and I really hope you've enjoyed reading about my adventures. As you're reading this, I'm currently preparing to go on yet another trip to the most magical place on earth, so this isn't the last Disney trip report you'll be seeing.
