Adventure Is Out There!

Is it just me, or does no one ever seem to go out these days? I mean, of course we all go on the odd night out, get very drunk and then regret everything we've ever done in life, but what I mean is that people don't seem to adventure any more.

Admit it, most of the time, you'd much rather sit in with your laptop, netflix and not have to move from your bedroom. Trust me, I'm like that sometimes too. But, I think we need to stop this now, we need to get rid of the whole 'fear of missing out' and motivate ourselves to go out more! Everyone knows by now that I love a good adventure, and I love to write on here about what I get up too. I think people really enjoy reading things like that, but instead of living it through a blog on your laptop screen, go out and make adventures for yourselves! I've got a lot of fun things coming up in the next few months, which I will obviously be blogging about of course, and I wanted to share with you what's getting me very excited for the year ahead!

At the end of the week, my friend and I are going to see 'Rocky Horror Show' at our local theatre. We absolutely love going to the theatre, and it's a show we've both never seen so I'm really looking forward too it. I love that feeling when you come out of the theatre and you just feel so good about yourself, it just transports you away from reality for a little while and I think that's why I love it so much. We're going all out, dressing up as the characters, taking all our props! I'm so excited! I've also been having some withdrawal symptoms from Jersey Boys. I loved just spontaneously booking to go down to London and watch a show; it was such an adventure and I loved every second of it. I think that's something we'll definitely be doing again at some point this year.

I don't leave Liverpool enough. I feel like I'm constantly here, I've got links to every city in the UK and I just never leave. So, I'm going to go on some adventures of my own to visit my friends around the country at their Universities. I love going and seeing new places, so I'm really excited to go and explore! I've already been down to Birmingham this year, and I'm planning another trip there very soon, but I'm also planning trips to Bangor, Dublin, Coventry and Glasgow! There may also be another cheeky little trip to Disneyland Paris in talks for later on in the year!

Concerts are one of my favourite things. I just love the adrenalin rush you get when your favourite artist comes bounding onto the stage as you scream their lyrics to them and hope they'll notice your face in an arena of around 3,000 people. I'm attending quite a few concerts this year; The Vamps, The 1975 and whoever will be headlining the Boardmasters Festival this year. I love just switching my phone off at festivals and living an adventure through my own eyes, not through a camera.

Speaking of the Boardmasters...Cornwall!! This is where I will be returning this year, as always, and I am very excited to be back by the sea and surfing again. I truly can't wait to just switch my phone off and spend some quality time with my family. Also, my friends and I will be going camping again this year, which I'm really looking forward too as it was such a laugh last time we did it!

So, those are just some of my plans for 2016. Instead of just cooping yourself up in your little nest, get out there, you've got a whole world to explore! Even if it's just some local events you go too, get out of the house. Lose the fear of missing out and get out more!

If you've got an event you'd like to promote or even just want to find out what's going on in your local area, I recommend Eventbrite. It's such a useful site for selling tickets online, I really would suggest that you check them out!

What are your plans for the year ahead?

Lots of Love

Where Have You Been?

It's been about three weeks since I last posted on this blog, and I've really really missed it.
I always said that I'd post a lot on here because I was studying writing at Uni, but since my assignments have been flooding in, I haven't even had chance to prepare one single blog post and that upsets me a lot. So, first, I would like to say that I'm sorry. I promise I'm going to post so much on here in the next few weeks! It's been so hectic with Uni, and then work. If you didn't know, I currently work for Disney Store; it's been a job I've wanted since I was a little girl so it really means the world to be to be able to say that once in my life, I worked for the Walt Disney Company. When Uni finished, I was then whisked home to spend time with my family who I haven't seen in a very long time and then it was Christmas! It's been insane!

The next thing I'd like to say is Merry Christmas!! I can't believe how quickly this year has passed, I mean it only seems like two seconds ago when I was writing my blog post about the highlights of 2014, and now I'm in the process of writing about my favorite parts of this year. I hope you all had a really lovely Christmas, I know I did. I got some really lovely presents and was able to spend the day with my family and friends, which meant the world to me. I got some amazing beauty products for Christmas, so keep your eyes peeled for some reviews coming in the New Year!

So, for now, what I'd like to say, is that I'm back and blogging again and to be expecting a lot of blog posts in the coming months. I'm really excited to get back blogging again, and I hope you guys continue to enjoy the posts as much as I love writing them!

Lots of Love,

Which University should you choose?

It's coming up to that time of year again. By now, your UCAS Applications should have been completed and sent off and you'll be waiting for offers from your chosen Universities. However, which University do you choose?

It's one of the hardest decisions you'll ever have to make, and also one of the most important. You want to choose somewhere where you are going to thrive and grow as a person. Where you feel safe, happy and will want to spend the next three or four years of your life.

The best thing to do is to go and visit the University for their open days. This is the one thing that will help you ultimately decided which University you will be starting at in August. When you go to these open days, you get a feel for the University, talk to the lecturers of your chosen course and look around the student accommodation. The best open days to go too are held in the term time because you get a real feel for the University and the City you will be living in. You probably won't believe me when I say this to you, but as soon as you enter the University, you'll know straight away if it's somewhere you want to be. If you don't feel comfortable then don't even consider it. You want to feel safe and happy.

Another thing to consider is if you want to live away from home. If you are 100% sure that you don't want to move away and live in student accommodation, then don't choose a University that's a six hour drive away from where you live. The reason I chose Liverpool is because it was far enough from home that I could live away, but close enough to home that I could get home if I needed too. If you're querying about moving away, my advice is to just go for it. When you arrive, every single person is in the same boat, but you'll form such a close bond with your flat mates and you'll meet so many new people. Also, you find that you become much more independent as a person, you have a lot more freedom and it's a nice thing to have responsibility. When you go home and see your parents, you'll also discover that there will be less arguments, because you spend more time catching up on all the gossip you've missed whilst you have been away.

It's not just the University you choose that you need to be comfortable with, you need to be content with your surroundings. If you don't feel safe in the city you will be living in, then please don't go and study there because I can guarantee that you won't enjoy your experience. Do you hate cities? No problem, there are plenty of Universities in little towns such as Bangor and Crewe. Make sure you've considered all of your options. Don't just jump in and make an instant decision. Some Uni's don't turn out the way you want them to be. Make sure that you feel inspired, especially if you're doing  a creative course.

Once you've received all of your University offers, I would recommend, if you can, going looking at the University you are thinking of choosing as your firm choice one more time to make sure that it's definitely right for you. Sometimes, you can change your mind, but that's okay, as long as you're going to be happy.

Finally, the last thing is the grades, or points, you'll need to get into the University. Make sure you have a safety net to fall back on if exams don't go your way. If you're only predicted to get B's or C's don't choose two A* Universities as your final choices, you need something you can fall back on, and you don't want to be disappointed on results day. Also remember that there's always clearing, so if you don't get the grades, there's still a chance you'll get in.

All I can say to you now is that you need to follow your dreams, and do what you love. Do not let anyone force you into going to a Uni or doing a course that you don't want to do; make sure that you are doing what you want to do. Make sure that you work hard for your exams, all the hard work pays off in the end I promise! :)

Good Luck!
 Lots of Love,
Meg

The 1975 & Meeting Matty

Hello Everyone!
It's the event I'd been waiting for for just over six months. When The 1975 announced that they were touring the UK again, I knew I had to get tickets. I was so disappointed when I couldn't get tickets to go to their previous UK shows, so I was the first on the laptop when tickets were released. I've loved this band for just over a year and a half. Their music reminds me very much of summer and my holidays, which is one reason why I think I love them. It's just the type of music that you can put on in the car and jam out too.

On Monday, I was finally able to see The 1975 live. It was possibly one of the best experiences of my life. People had been queuing outside the venue since 7am in the morning, so when we arrived at half past six, the queue was around 2 miles long. Okay that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it was a complete trek to the end of the queue. After waiting for around an hour in the freezing cold, singing Justin Bieber's new track Sorry, we were finally let into the hall. It was packed full of people, we were like beans in a tin, but I guess that added to the atmosphere. Before we knew it, the support act began to play, and they were amazing. Although, I think they could have maybe done covers of a few songs that the crowd knew, just because it would have helped to raise the atmosphere a little more.

Then it began. The 1975 casually strolled onto the stage and began their set with their new single 'Love Me' (which is such a tune). They were phenomenal, and they were so humble. I don't think they expected that many people to turn up to go and see them, and they just kept thanking people for turning up which was adorable. They played songs from their debut album, such as 'Girls', 'Sex'. 'Chocolate' and my personal favourite 'Heart Out'. But, as an extra little treat for the people who came to this tour, they played us some of the songs from her new album, which were sooooooo good! After hearing the songs they played for us, I cannot wait for their new album; it's going to have some tunes on it!

After a very sweaty show, and believe me, it was sweaty, we headed to the back of the venue to try and meet them. We didn't think we'd have a chance of meeting anyone from the band, but it was worth a try. When we arrived, Matty was smoking from the balcony and waved to the fans waiting for him outside. He then asked if we were waiting for him, to which we all replied that we were, and then he told us that he'd be down in 10 minutes. One hour later, and they still hadn't come down. They really were making us wait.

Then, Matty emerged from the door and the crowd pushed to get to him. We'd been at the front waiting for over an hour, but we got dragged and pushed to the back by fans, meaning sadly we didn't get to meet him. So, we ran to the very end of the queue and we waited for another 10 minutes. That's when security pushed us out of the way, and we stumbled over the curb. I can't even begin to tell you how rude the security at the venue were, but if it weren't for Matty we wouldn't have met him. When he saw that we'd been pushed out, he told the security to stop and came back to us. We told him that we really enjoyed the show and he then took many photos with both of us. He's honestly one of the loveliest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and the band deserve all the success in the world.

I can't wait to go and see them on tour again soon!
Lots of Love,
Meg

Lights that go Bang!

 Hello Everyone!
Bonfire Night is one of my favourite nights of the year. If you're not aware of what this is, it's basically a night where people set off a lot of fireworks in celebration of the day that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London. Not really something happy to celebrate, but that's the British for you.

When I was younger, Bonfire Night was a massive deal for my family. We would always go out and buy fireworks, my Grandma and Grandad would come round with their homemade hotpot and we would congregate in the garden whilst Dad attempted to make an award winning fireworks display. The sparklers were always my favourite part of the night, I loved trying to write my name. I felt like a fairy with a wand, and I used to run around casting magic spells on people. Imagination is a wonderful thing. Then, we got my little pooch, and the firework celebrations had to stop. Buster gets very scared of all the loud bangs, so for the past couple of years, our Bonfire Nights have been spent cuddling the dog and making sure that he's okay.

This year, as most of you know, I moved to University. So, when I found out that Seton Park would be holding their annual firework display, I dragged Molly along to come and see them with me. This was the first time I'd been to an organised Bonfire Night display so I was excited to say the least. After getting lost and having a 20 minute walk to the park, we finally arrived and took our place on the crowded field ready for the display. The weather was freezing cold, and it had been raining earlier in the day so the field was very slippy. It was kind of like being on an ice rink.

Heart Radio kept us company for the hour that we had to wait, playing songs that got everyone dancing, well when I say everyone, I mean mostly me. I'm one of those people that if my favourite song comes on, in any public place, I will probably do some form of dance and embarrass everyone who's with me. Oh and I wonder why I don't have any friends. Watching all the children run around the field, gazing in bewilderment at the sparklers, it really took me back to my childhood.

And then, the moment everyone had been waiting for. The dramatic music began and the first loud bang echoed through the park. The sky was illuminated with colour as the different fireworks were set off to some of the biggest songs of 2015 such as Uptown Funk, Summer, Writing on the Wall and to my complete satisfaction, Let It Go. There's just something about fireworks that enchants me. The way they make everyone happy, the way they make the sky look pretty; I just think that they're wonderful. The hour wait, and the 20 minute journey, was definitely worth it. I can't begin to put into words how beautiful it was to watch. It's amazing how something so simple can bring joy to so many.

I tried to take some photos of the night, Enjoy!

What did you do on Bonfire Night?
Lots of Love,
Meg

New Ideas and Giveaway?

Hello Everyone!
A new blog post to start a new month! :)
I'm going to apologise in advance for this post being a little bit of a ramble, but there are a couple of things I really want to address. As you may, or may not, have noticed, the header and theme for my blog has changed a little bit. I wanted to make my blog a little more professional and I felt that my previous design had a little bit too much going on. I hope you guys don't think this is too plain and that you really like it.

Also, after some events at University, I now have a lot more time on my hands. In fact, way more time than I ever expected to have. This means that I can focus on my blog, and seeing as I'm doing a creative writing degree, it fits in perfectly. Sometimes, my posts get quite a lot of views, and a lot of people really seem to like them, however others get minimal views. I would like to know the type of thing that you guys like to see on a blog, the type of things you read and the content you would like to see me post. I get bloggers block quite frequently so if you leave me some responses in the comments that would be really brilliant,

If it's the giveaway that's brought you to this page, then this is what I'm going to talk about now. I'm coming up to my 100th blog post, and that's very weird. I'm never normally a person to stick to particular things, but with this blog, it's been something I've really looked after. I take it seriously and see it as my own little place on the internet where I can be myself and have my own voice. I love buying new beauty products, testing them out and writing a review for people to read. It's one of my favourite things. Anyway, onto the giveaway. As some of you know, I've been really loving the Revolution Make Up Collection recently, and I was thinking of doing some form of giveaway of some of their products to a lucky person who reads my blog. I think it'd be a really cool thing to do, so you should let me know what you think about that! :)

Overall, I hope you all still really like to read this blog, as much as I love writing on it. It'd mean a lot to me if you could give me some feedback in the comments below. Also, whilst you're at it, my bestest friend has decided to join the blogging community. Her name is Olivia, or Liv as I call her, and she has a film blog where she writes reviews on films and talks about life in general. It's a really lovely blog so you should go and show her some love. I'll leave a link here:

University Room Tour

Hello Everyone!
As some of you know, I've finally moved to University, and as promised I'm going to do a little room tour for you all. My flat isn't the biggest; as there are only four of us living here, we have one of the smallest flats in the block, but that means we can make it really cosy and cute. I'm living in an all girls flat with three others, and they're all so lovely. I've been in Liverpool for a week now, and honestly, I really like it here. It's one of the loveliest cities in the world, so if you're thinking of moving here to University then I would definitely recommend it!

When I first knew that I was moving out, I wanted my room to feel as much like home as possible (Does that make sense?). This is why you'll see little things from home, such as photos, flowers and of course a lot of Disney. I've seen some University rooms which are extremely dark and this is one thing I hated. I've tried to make my room as bright as possible. I think my favourite things in my room are my polaroid wall and the display I have in my window; these are the things that remind me of home the most and they represent me very well. Also, the view from my flat, which you can see pictured above, is one of the most beautiful things. I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am to be able to watch the gorgeous sunsets over Albert Dock each night.

So, without further a-do, I'm going to take you on a little tour of my room...

Cornwall 2015 | The Most Eventful Holiday Ever!

Hello Everyone!
Okay, so I want to start by saying that I'm really sorry that I haven't posted anything this past week. I've recently been away on my yearly family holiday to Cornwall, and it's probably been one of the most eventful three weeks of my life, so my blog posts went a bit doo-lally.

When we arrived down in Cornwall, the sunshine was cracking the flags and we pulled up at our Caravan site in a little town called Rejarrah. This year we went to a completely different site, so it was really nice to have a change. It was on this site that I met my two little companions for the holiday; Blue and Ted. These two cute little things were the horses owned by the lady who was the owner of the caravan site. Everyday I fed them carrots and helped her to look after them. I have to be honest, I'm really missing those cheeky little fellas.

For the first few days, we spent all of our time on the beach, apart from one day when we went into Truro to do some shopping but we won't talk about that. The beach provided me with a chance to get some beautiful photos of the sea and the sand, plus watching the surfers is always one of my favourite things. Sadly, this year, I only got a chance to surf a couple of times, but it was still really fun and I got some awesome waves. However, the seagulls were such pests!! I can't begin to explain to you how frustrated they made me. It seemed that they could just see where food was and they'd dive around and try to steal it from you. I thought I was going to die.

The weather then deteriorated and this was when disaster struck. Whilst asleep one stormy Friday night, I started to hear a dripping sound. I thought nothing of it and went back to sleep. However, when we woke up that morning, we realised that it wasn't just 'nothing' in fact, the roof of the caravan was leaking. Therefore, the day was spent with buckets on the floor catching the water, and nothing for any of us to do. The repair man couldn't get to us in time either, so we just had to make do with what we had. If you think that's bad, trust me, it gets worse.

So, as I said, we'd spent the previous day trying to stop water from flowing into the Caravan, therefore we thought that the holiday couldn't get any worse. But how wrong were we? The rain stopped and Dad thought it would be a good idea to try and put some tape over the spot where the water was coming in. This is what he spent most of the morning doing. We had some lunch and then decided to head off to the beach; or so we thought. I was sat in the car with the dog when I saw my Dad rushing to the toilets clutching his hand, Mum was banging on the window shouting for me to help her but I had no clue what was going on. "We need to get your Dad to the Hospital Now!". I didn't know what on earth was going on but we shot down to Perranporth surgery, my Dad's finger flowing with blood, only to find that it was closed. We then had to treck for twenty minutes to A&E which was where we spent most of the day. Dad had jumped to grab something from the top of the Caravan, his wedding ring had caught on a pole and dragged half the skin of his finger off. The sight was horrible. However, he only thought he would need a couple of stitches and would be out in no time. As we sat in the Accident and Emergency department, he was called in straight away, and then I didn't see him for another two hours. I had no clue what was going on, and, after watching three consecutive episodes of 'The Chase' I was getting very bored and very impatient.

Then Dad came out and called me into a room. He still hadn't been seen by a nurse. He had his wedding ring cut off but no one has been in for the past two hours and he didn't know what was going on. An hour later, the surgeon came in and told him that he would need to go into Theatre for an operation on his finger. They told him that he was extremely lucky not to have lost his finger but reassured us that he was going to be okay.

That night, Mum and I waited and waited for a call to go and pick him up after he had been into Theatre, but we got nothing. Turns out, they decided to keep him in overnight and luckily, at lunchtime the following morning, we got a phone call from the hospital telling us that the operation had gone well, Dad was doing fine and that he was ready for us to collect him. Thank God!

Gradually, the weather picked up again and Dad started to recover really well. That's why we spent so long at the beach and I got some gorgeous photos of the Sunset. I love watching the sunset at the beach, especially in Cornwall. It's one of my favourite things to do. I think that it's one of those thing that just makes you appreciate how beautiful the world actually is. We don't have to pay for spectacular sites like that, it's just the picturesque surroundings that we take for granted. We watched so many sunsets, and I posted so many photos on Instagram, that I'm pretty sure people got very fed up of seeing my new found obsession with the sunset.

One of my favourite things, not only about Cornwall, but in the whole wide world, is food. And especially cream teas. One day in Newquay, we went to the cutest little café at the side of the harbour and I had this delicious cream tea; it was the nicest thing I have ever tasted. I'm getting extremely hungry just writing about it. yum yum yum.

Looe is my favourite place to visit when we go down to Cornwall. It is the most adorable little village, with what can only be described as breath taking views of the sea. It also has the cutest café's to visit, who seem to sell the nicest hot chocolate ever. Plus, look how cute and excited my little buddy looks to be on the beach!

One of my favourite days of the holiday, and possibly one of the most fun days, was when we visited the quaint little village of Port Isaac. This is the place where the hit ITV series 'Doc Martin' is filmed and we were able to find his house, and see where all of the major scenes are set which was so lovely. As you can see from the photos above, I took it upon myself to take a wonderful selfie with his house. However, we didn't just come to Port Isaac to see Doc Martin; on a Friday night, at around 7pm, a Cornish group called the Fisherman Friends stand at the harbour and play songs whilst everyone joins in, eating their fish and chips. So, we got our fish and chips and headed down to the harbour, settling down in our place. An hour later, at half past seven, we were still waiting, and there was still no one here, we didn't really know what to expect or what to do. This was when we found out from a family sat next to us that the band weren't coming tonight because they were performing elsewhere. Just our luck ey?! It was still a lovely place to visit, and I got to see Doc Martin so it was all good in my point of view.

Last but not least, in our last few days, we headed over to Healeys Cornish Cider Farm which is where they make the famous Cornish Rattlers Cider. This is THE nicest cider in the world, and as many people know, it's my favourite drink in the summer. I know as soon as I start to drink Cider that it's the summer again. At Healey's, I was literally in cider heaven. There were so many different kinds and flavours, plus we were able to see how it is made and walk around the orchards which was amazing. I'm also pictured above with my first legal pint of Rattlers Cider which I proudly purchased for myself.

So, there's my eventful holiday for you. Due to Dad being unwell and having to go to the hospital, we decided to book another week down in Cornwall to catch up on the days that we missed, hence the reason why there haven't been any posts up this week. If you're wondering, or if you're bothered, my Dad is on the mend now and is doing really really well. Overall, despite all the drama, we still had such a wonderful holiday and Cornwall remains one of my favourite places in the world!

Lots of Love
